Romantic relationships bring out the best and worst in us. The emotional connection we feel for our partner can be overwhelming in both positive and negative ways. All too often we get hijacked by our emotions and say or do things we would not normally. Our couples counseling will focus on recognizing when we have been hijacked by our emotions and give each partner strategies to utilize to regain control.
Often building these relationships means changing the patterns of communication formed by you and your partner over time. As we bring awareness to the communication patterns causing conflict or tension, we can take intentional steps toward changing them. As treatment progresses with motivated couples, both partners will become stronger listeners and communicators. During this process, you and your partner are likely to learn to support each other in new ways that deepen your relationship and your understanding of each other.
